Mérieau Vineyards

14.06.2025 – 13.09.2025

Réseau de boas

The wines of the Mérieau Estate are, depending on their categorization, light, convivial, dance-like, surprising, celebratory and age-worthy.

This exhibition explores the patterns and shapes of the vine plants, from their branches to their roots, as well as the vegetation that surrounds them. It draws inspiration from the colours associated with the wines produced by Domaine J.F. Mérieau and from the vineyard landscape marked by its linear structures and more natural, curved shapes.

The works are based on three concepts that reflect the elements considered most striking in this landscape and the wines produced from it:

  • Roots & Branches
  • Plants, Aromas & Colours
  • Organic & Geometric patterns

All the works can be seen at the exhibition venue: 69 route de Vierzon, 41400 Montrichard Val de Cher, France.

The prices indicated do not include any delivery charges.

SYNESTHETICS

Cinesthésique

To smell, taste, and savour a wine is to explore the scents and flavours of plants that are not necessarily linked to wine production.
The works in this series interpret the characteristics of the Mérieau wines. The colors evoke their aromas and scents, where as the grape bunches remind us that the vine plant is their origin. The six paintings feature 84 different grape bunches from vine plants at the Mérieau estate and each plant is placed as to create an imaginary interaction between the plants.

SYMPHONIES & Co.

At the Mérieau Estate, they love to celebrate. Celebrations call for music.
The colour red is dominant in the elements used to describe the Mérieau wines (grenade, red berries, blackcurrant, ruby, red berries, etc.).
The trellis wires guiding the vine plants evoke the lines of a music sheet. The silhouettes of older vine plants are piano keys accompanied by notes, whose red color recalls the wines’ colors (grenade, ruby, etc.) and the fruit aromas found there (red berries, blackcurrant, etc.).
Here are the symphonies of the « music » played by the vine plants, orchestrated by the Mérieau Estate!

RÉSEAUX DE BOAS

Snake knots or network of vine plants?
Twisting, impressive, and taking on incredible shapes, the vine plants are here assembled to create networks where organic and geometric patterns of varying scales intertwine.
The combinations highlight the contrasts in the vineyard landscape, opposing linear, geometric structures with vegetal, naturally curved shapes.

LANDSCAPE CIRCLES

The works in this series are inspired by the colours observed in the vineyard landscape. The circles are oversized grapes, with the appearance and lightness of celestial objects, which interact with the vine plants.
In some circles the connection to the terroir and surrounding landscape is depicted in the form of minimalist tree silhouettes, observed around the estate’s vine fields.

MASCOT

This sculpture was created from a vine plant root from the Mérieau estate’s vineyards. It is a three-dimensional extension of the boa networks series.
The watercolor in the background transposes the silhouette of the root. However, the shadow of the uprooted plant complements the theoretical one placed on the sheet of paper, varying in magnitude depending on the ambient lighting.
