La Coubre lighthouse
09.03.2026 – 15.03.2026
The artwork created for the exhibition at La Coubre Lighthouse is a triptych, stemming from a poetic and symbolic exploration of the consequences of rising sea levels and coastal erosion.
The works interpret different elements on-site: the lighthouse with its Fresnel lens, opaline tiles and geometric patterns on the outside as well as the surroundings in particular the national pine forest and the ocean.
These patterns are intertwined to symbolize the fragility of the historical monument facing the forces of nature, the inexorable rise of the sea and the erosion of the Charente coastline.
Thus, the tree silhouettes are crownless to highlight the precariousness of the lighthouse’s situation, the opaline veins appear as flows of water seeping into it’s structure and the ocean challenges the forest for the space occupied by human construction.
All the works can be seen at the exhibition venue: Lieu-dit La Coubre, 17390 La Tremblade – France
